Janie Carruth

Chapala resident Janie Ann Sumner Carruth died May 25 due to complications following surgery. She was 73.

Born July 27, 1938 in Christine, Texas, Carruth was raised by her grandparents Tom and Venice Hale, who raised Janie and her brother Tom after her parents’ divorce.

Carruth and her husband Bob moved to Chapala in 2002. She was active in American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 7 in Chapala.

Carruth is survived by sons Rocky and Scott Carruth of Houston, Texas, daughters Pamela Johnson of Nebraska and Deborah Burnett of Tomball, Texas, granddaughter Angelica Danielle Ryan (said to be the pride and joy of Janie’s life) and a great granddaughter, Avery, both of Hitchcock, Texas. She also had numerous cousins and a multitude of friends in Texas and Mexico.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 21, 11 a.m. at American Legion Post 7 (Morelos 114, Chapala).

Janie was angel on earth, she gave more than she recieved, she will be sadly missed by so many.. I know that Chapala will never be the same with this beautiful lady. Rest in peace my very dear friend, you made a very big impact on our lives and we will never forget you.. Until we meet again, god bless you..
