City dines on huge cake

Some 22,000 hungry citizens gathered in the Plaza Guadalajara on Sunday to feast upon a 1,200-meter-long cake laid on by the municipal government to celebrate El Dia de los Reyes.

La Manzanilla Memo - January 12, 2013

The curtain has closed on the first act of the living theater that is La Manzanilla in Season. The scene faded to black as the Thanksgiving-to-New Year’s whirlwind blew out in a blaze of beach bonfires, fireworks and unseasonable rain squalls. Now we’re taking a post-holiday breather, waiting for the lights to blink and the curtain to rise again. Meanwhile, the movers and groovers who make things happen are back stage busily preparing to roll out the big-gun events and fund raisers for Act Two.

Shelter kids bash the piggies

40 kids at the Love in Action Children’s Center broke open 45 piggy banks to count the money collected in them by generous volunteers.

Wise men grace Ajijic plaza

The Three Wise Men of the Orient received an enthusiastic welcome at the Ajijic plaza on the evening of Sunday, January 6. 

Canadian Consulate to host seminar

The Canadian Consulate in Guadalajara will present a seminar on Canada’s new simplified program for registering Canadians abroad on Thursday. January 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lake Chapala Society.
