Ajijic beach turns into paid parking zone

Ajijic town administrator Hector España has unveiled a plan to utilize the beach area just east of the local pier as a paid parking zone, taking effect as of Monday, June 3.

The principal aims of the project are to provide motorists with a secure place to station their vehicles and to relieve traffic congestion in the center of town.

The parking lot will be tightly managed by one feisty senior woman and two male assistants, España reports. Initial hours are set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, with extended hours arranged on holidays and dates for special events.
