In 2008 a group of dedicated individuals came together to rescue local wildlife, plants and birds in and around the coastal towns of Melaque and Barra de Navidad on Jalisco’s Costalegre.
Collaborating closely with the University of Guadalajara, the non-profit group ProLaTule has been working towards the goal of restoring a natural wildlife area known as the Laguna del Tule. Many species use the laguna as a natural resting point on their migratory path or as a breeding ground.
