Guadalajara’s light rail or subway network, the Tren Ligero, could soon be expanded, with two major new lines in the works.
The Federal Transportation Agency (SCT) this week revealed plans for a 21-kilometer line running from north-west Zapopan to Tlaquepaque, while local authorities maintain that existing plans for a third line to Tlajomulco will go ahead as well.
The SCT is soliciting bids from private businesses to provide an analysis of its plans for the Zapopan-Tlaquepaque line. The municipal governments of the metropolitan zone will then evaluate the plans before deciding whether to support the proposed expansion.
