Photographers upload Mexico images to Wiki Loves Monuments

More than 15,000 photographers around the world participated in the 2012 edition of Wiki Loves Monuments. They uploaded over 350,000 freely-licensed images of historic buildings, monuments and cultural heritage sites in 35 countries to Wikimedia Commons.
According to a recent press release, 630 photographers in Mexico, both professional and amateur, uploaded 6,794 images to the competition website. First prize went to Ricardo David Sánchez for his photograph of the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan. Sponsosrs of the competition include Fundación Carlos Slim, Telmex, Carl Zeiss, Museo Universitario del Chopo, Instituto Politécnico Nacional and the Universidad Iberoamericana.
