St. Patrick’s Day at the beach

Saturday, March 17, those in the know will be wearing the green, and what better place to celebrate the man who drove the snakes from Ireland than San Patrico Melaque in Costalegre.

All this week the faithful are parading up and down the town’s byways each afternoon. The city band plays nightly in the kiosk and fireworks shoot off at regular intervals. Beginning Thursday, the fiestas patronales begin with jaripeos (bull riding) in the Plaza de Toros in the late afternoon and dances many nights after the bulls are sent to rest.  Remember, next weekend is a puente, so make reservations if you go.
