National Lottery in financial crisis

Mexico’s National Lottery (Lotenal) is on the brink of financial collapse, according to an audit ordered by the Ministry of Public Administration (SFP).

Lotenal, which is supposed to fund charities and social projects, has stopped making donations and is now reliant on government subsidies to the tune of 350 million pesos, says Spanish-language daily El Informador.

Russell Bedford Mexico, which audited Lotenal’s finances, revealed that the lottery made a loss of 54.6 million pesos in the six-month period from December 31, 2011 to August 31, 2012.National Lottery in financial crisis
