Apocalypse Now?

If you’re reading these words it means the world has not come to an end.

Those who interpreted the end of a cycle in the Mayan calendar as a doomsday prophecy were wrong. The world awoke as normal on December 21, 2012 and the supposed Armageddon deadline of 11:11 a.m. passed without so much as an asteroid striking the earth or a solar flare toasting us all.

The insistent harbingers of the apocalypse who stocked up on emergency rations are either feeling a little foolish or hastily revising their calculations, those who profited from this storm-in-a-teacup are eagerly awaiting the next big opportunity for lucrative fear mongering, and everyone else is simply getting on with their lives and trying to finish their Christmas shopping.

Now we can all stop worrying until the next time the Mayan calendar completes a cycle on October 13, 4772. Happy holidays everyone.
