Oldest foreign airline in Mexico marks 70 years

American Airlines began service between the United States and Mexico 12 years after its foundation in 1930.  The inaugural flight to Monterrey, with continuing service to Mexico City, took off from Dallas, Texas on September 8, 1942.

American began operations in Mexico with 20 employees in Mexico City and Monterrey. Just one year later, the airline  had grown to 168 employees working in sales, traffic and cargo. Today it has 840 employees in this country.
