Mexico brags of job gains at G20 meeting

Employment and quality job creation were the focus of the G-20 Labor and Employment Ministerial Meeting held in Guadalajara last Thursday and Friday.
The priorities during the Mexican presidency of the G-20 “are economic stabilization and the implementation of structural reforms to stimulate growth and employment with special emphasis on youth,” said Rosalinda Velez, Mexico’s secretary of Labor and Social Welfare.
Flaunting its achievements, the Mexican government said it created 600,000 jobs in 2011, keeping the national unemployment rate under five percent. Up until the end of April, another 340,000 jobs had been created this year.
Following the ministerial meeting, the world’s most powerful leaders will come to Mexico for the G-20 summit in Los Cabos on June 18-19.
