When 13-year-old Kevin Levesque performed his first Broadway-style number in his parent’s living room, he knew he had found his calling. 

An instant hit with his family, he studied drama, music and dance for years. Then friends dared him to create a drag persona, which he did, shocking them all by singing live and being fabulous. And voila! Miss Conception took her rightful place, center stage.

Dethroning Julie Andrews, Ryan Rigazzi’s new one-man show, is an upbeat tale of a little man with big goals.

“The name of the show resulted from a line in an early draft of it and stuck, because my mom's dream as a kid was to dethrone her as the Queen of Musicals.” (Clearly, acting and singing are in Ryan’s blood!)

As it follows a goofy kid chasing a dream, classic songs from Broadway, film, television — and one ditty plucked from the archives of disco — are given new life as they lead the audience step by step along the path from playtime to the big-time.

Describing himself as “an actor at his best when telling a story through music,” Ryan spent twelve years performing in San Francisco’s Beach Blanket Babylon, the longest running musical revue in theater history.

There Ryan played to VIPS including Star Wars creator George Lucas, former Secretary of State George Schultz, and Camilla and her prince — Charles personally complimenting him after the show. Ryan has also appeared at the World Series, at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre in New York, and shared the stage with Megan Mullally and the cast of Wicked, the untold story of the witches of Oz.
