Legendary Ajijic musician to be honored at Degollado Theater

The Jalisco Culture Secretariat will pay tribute to a late Lakeside musical giant in a unique concert at the Teatro Degollado on October 7.

Born in Ajijic in 1943, Victor Manuel Medeles Romero was one of Jalisco’s most prominent contemporary musicians.

An accomplished modern composer, as well as a beloved teacher and promoter of musical education, Medeles died in September 2009 after a long battle with stomach cancer.

Shortly before his death Medeles was commissioned to compose a new symphony to be performed during the 2010 bicentennial commemoration of Mexico’s Independence.
