Mexico has 35 medals in total – more than any other nation – but fewer golds (9) than Brazil (10) and the United States (14).

Canadian athletes have captured 22 medals: 2 golds, eight silvers and 12 bronzes.

Eleven Parapan Games records were set in the pool on Monday. In total there are 85 medal events in seven days of swimming competition involving 180 swimmers from 14 countries.

The first day of the athletics competition saw the United States win seven gold medals. Venezuela picked up four, Argentina three and Mexico and Brazil two each.

Medals on Tuesday will be up for grabs in athletics, swimming, cycling and table tennis.
