Watch opening ceremony on TV, Internet
Friday, October 07 2011 13:35

Guadalajara’s opening ceremony starts Friday, October 14, 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Mexico’s two main networks, Televisa and Television Azteca.

It is also being streamed live on www.terra.com, as well as on CBCSports.ca, which will also stream the closing ceremony live as well as  hour-long highlight shows each day at 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. (CT).

CBC Television rebroadcasts the opening ceremony on Saturday, October 15, noon, plus two-hour highlight shows on October 22 and 29 at 11 a.m.

Performing at the opening ceremony will be famed local rock band Mana, singers Lila Downs, Eugenia Leon and Juanes, as well as the Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan.  Alejandro Fernandez will sing the official games song, “El mismo sol,” and dad Vicente will interpret the Mexican national anthem. What comprises the rest of the ceremony – apart from the traditional parade of athletes – is a well-kept secret.

The production of the opening and closing ceremonies are under the supervision of the Five Currents company that was responsible for the same ceremonies in Río de Janeiro in 2007 and will also participate in the London Olympics of 2012.
