With the exception of the soccer competition, over 70 percent of tickets for the Pan American Games have now been sold, organizers are saying. As of Tuesday, according to official online vendor Ticketmaster, the opening ceremony has sold out. A few tickets remain for the closing ceremony, albeit at a grand price of 2,420 pesos. The Scotiabank Aquatics Center has been the most in-demand venue, with all tickets sold out for swimming and synchronized swimming. Tickets for diving are “currently unavailable,” although preliminary-round water polo tickets remain on sale for just 33 pesos. Basketball has proved another of the most popular attractions, with the final, semi-finals and even some of the preliminary rounds sold out. The men’s soccer final is sold out but tickets for the semi-finals are available for 110 pesos. Soccer matches will be played in the 48,000-capacity Omnilife Stadium. With no word yet on which teams will be playing when, these tickets are selling slowly. Also for 110 pesos you can pick up preliminary round and quarter-final tickets for the tennis, but tickets for the final and the semis have been snapped up. Quarter-final tickets for the boxing are still available but the semis and the final are all booked up. The fencing final is sold out but there are still tickets for the semi-finals and preliminaries from 66 pesos. The softball and rugby finals have sold out but baseball games, which take place in Lagos de Moreno, have sold the least number of tickets so far. Tickets for the some of the equestrian events are also available. Those who wish to purchase tickets online should go to www.ticketmaster.com and click the “English” button. Ticketmaster has sales outlets in the Liverpool and Fabricas de Francia stores, and ticket booths are open in the Guadalajara city center’s Plaza de la Liberacion and outside Expo Guadalajara (Av. Mariano Otero and Las Rosas).
