GUADALAJARA - Juli Inkster rolled back the years for the second day in a row, posting a three-under-par 69 to share the half-way lead of the Lorena Ochoa Invitational with Sweden's Anna Nordquist.
The loud cheer that greeted Inkster's birdie putt on the 510-yard, par-five 18th indicated who Tapatio golf fans want the winners's check to go to.
And Inkster's broad grin after holing that putt and the quick walk to the practice green after her post-round press conference showed exactly how much she wants to win at the Guadalajara Country Club.
"I really feel the fans watching out here, they're rooting hard for me, and I'm trying the best I can. If it happens, it's awesome," said the 31-time tour winner.
Victory on Sunday would be Inkster's first victory since 2006 and make her the oldest ever LPGA Tour winner at 51 years of age. The current record holder is Beth Daniel, who was 46 when she won the 2003 Canadian Women's Open.
In perfect weather, Nordquist shot the best round of the tournament so far, carding a seven under par 65. She and Inkster will be joined in the final group Saturday by Scotland's Catriona Matthew, who followed up her bogey-free opening round of 69 with a bogey-free four-under 68 on Friday.
Also on seven under are Suzann Pettersen of Norway and Meena Lee of South Korea.
Defending champion In-Kyung Kim shot 67 to move to five under par.
