Astounded and shocked by Love in Action feud

Dear Sir,

I was astounded and shocked to read the article “Feud over mission statement rocks Love in Action shelter” in the current Reporter, since I know of some other supporters who have distanced themselves from the shelter in addition to the six now former members of the Advisory Committee.

Never having heard of Deeper Waters Ministry, I checked their website and found that it consists of  Kari Romey, the recently arrived new director of LiA, and her husband Doug. I watched a video in the course of which I gathered that  God has called them both to Mexico to try and rectify the current situation here, which is, as Doug says, that “only three per cent of Mexicans are born again believers.” In order to embark on this mission Kari said that  they sold their house and virtually all of their possessions. Doug’s main task is to work with “pastors” and Kari with orphanages. The video ends with a plea by Kari for “prayerful” as well as financial support.

I imagine your readers will find this information of interest.

I know of no one who is so committed to helping others that they would sell their house and possessions to do so. The writer seems to think this is somehow a negative??

Perhaps the writer and/or any of the other detractors would like to provide the rest of us some substantive proof that religion is being handled any differently at LIA than before?

You are correct, Love In Action has made a drastic move toward total control by Born Again Cristians. There has been vast changes since Summer Phillips and Kari Romey came. Posts to volunteer group from a director requesting $2300 so two girls from the center could go to another country to do mission work, compulsory prayer sessions at 6AM, moves to self teach the kids on site to remove them from the "Evil" school system, funds raised to rent a bus to send girls to a Christian Conferance all at a time when funds are greatly needed for basic things. Most important new BOD formed with only Church members. Clearly there is a radicial shift afoot and thats why so many have left in the last 6 months.
