Longtime Ajijic resident Peter D’Addio passed away at a local hospital on April 7 after a short illness.
Born April 15, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York, D’Addio served his country during World War II as an Army medic in India while still a teenager.
D’Addio retired from the advertising business and he and his wife Carole moved to Ajijic in 1985. Except for five years when the D’Addios lived in the beach town of Bucerias, the couple resided at Lakeside.
The D’Addios, both artists, were active in the local art community and part of the art co-op Centro Ajijic de Belles Artes (CABA).
The D’Addios were married for 46 years and Carole will soon open her new art gallery, “D’Addio & D’Addio,” in Ajijic.

His creativity and passion for life knew no bounds. He was raised in a warm and loving Italian family and was fondly known --always -- as "the baby", being the youngest.. At the time of his death he was survived by his brothers Louis and Michael. At the time of this writing, Louis is the last survivor of the eight siblings. Rest in peace, Uncle Peter, as you lived and passed with grace. Enjoy the ongoing "pranza" with la famiglia. xoxo
