Bob Casbeer

''
Bob Casbeer, a four-year resident of Ajijic, died November 17 in a local clinic. He was 71. Casbeer was born February 4, 1936 in Lampasas, Texas and served his country in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1958. He graduated with a degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and went to work for the Tracon Company soon thereafter. Several years later, he left the company after serving as its chief financial officer. He owned his own businesses, Leisure, Inc. among them, for several years before working for the State of Texas as the chief contract auditor for the Texas Department of Health, the position from which he retired.
Casbeer and his wife Linda moved to Ajijic in 2002, where he was the treasurer of the Lake Chapala Society for one year and an avid player with the Lakeside Contract Bridge Club.
He was most often seen at a table located at the Lake Chapala Society in the company of eight men who met there every day and referred to him as "The Chairman of the Board" or "Texas Bob." They have shown their affection and respect for their departed friend by putting a black bow on 'his' chair at the table.
His wife of 48 years, Linda Casbeer, survives him as does a daughter, Rebecca Sanders and her husband Doug, of Wimberley, Texas, a son, Scott Casbeer of Ajijic, a granddaughter, Mikayla Sanders of Wimberly, Texas and a grandson, Collin Davenport of Austin. Casbeer's brother Hanie Casbeer of Adamsville, Texas, also survives him.
Memorial services to "roast and toast" Casbeer will be private.
