Contrary to Governor Emilio Gonzalez’s proclamation last week that it would open in “just a few days,” the museum at Jalisco’s largest archaeological site of Guachimontones will not be inaugurated until the end of the year.
Originally due to open in June 2010, the museum is now scheduled for opening in December 2011.
The unique circular pyramids of Guachimontones were built between 200 and 400 A.D. The new museum, which is costing 28 million pesos, is located 500 meters from the ancient ruins. It has been under construction since 2008.
