Canadian drug trafficker arrested in Nayarit

One of the most wanted cocaine traffickers in Canada was arrested in Nayarit on Wednesday, according to reports in several Spanish language newspapers.

Nicholas Michael Lucier, who was going by the alias Corry Corbett, was captured just outside Nuevo Vallarta, only four days after his compatriot Thomas Gisby, another known drug trafficker, was murdered in the same town. It is unclear whether the events are linked.

The arrest was confirmed by the Atorney General’s Office in Nayarit.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Michael Lucier has a criminal record dating back to 1983, for crimes including drug trafficking, robbery, assault and unlawful possession of firearms.
