More Bird Festival demonstrations this weekend

On hand for the opening of the Festival de las Aves, prominent lakeside birders John and Rosemary Keeling (center) joined event organizers Alejandro Juarez and Julieta Reinaldi to show off paper placements given out as souvenirs to encourage conservation of winged species like the roseate spoonbill, northern shoveler, white pelican and long-billed dowitcher.

Falcon flying demos slated for Saturday, November 17, noon and Sunday, November 18, 4:30 p.m. at Chapala’s waterfront Malecon are among the highlights on the Wild Bird Festival schedule for this weekend. Visitors attending these demonstrations  will have a chance to pose for snapshots with this handsome crested caracara (left) Nature lovers can also enjoy a bird watchers walk through the Cristiania Park, Saturday, 7:45 a.m.  More activities are slated both days at the Ajijic Malecon, from 4 p.m.  For full program details go to www.corazondelatierra.org.mx or Corazon de la Tierra on Facebook.
