Security group promotes safe streets

In an effort to encourage parent involvement in the Department of Education’s School Security Program, the Community Safety Initiative (CSI) is providing local schools with the essentials tools for activating volunteer safety patrols to help guide students at admission and dismissal times.

During a ceremony held September 26 in the city hall lobby, the CSI board joined former Mayor Jesus Cabrera and other municipal officials to distribute materials to students and staff representing various public schools. Each safety kit consists of  four florescent vests  and an equal number of custom-made red and white “ALTO” (STOP) signs with handles to be utilized by moms and dads who rotate duty at street crossings outside the institutions where their offspring study.
