Guadalajara city officials were called out on Christmas Day to stop the partial demolition of a colonial residence considered to be a significant part of the city’s architectural heritage.
On December 24, workmen began removing an outside wall at the Casa Madonna on Calle Lerdo de Tejada, so named for its previous owner, U.S. expatriate Madonna Fox, who ran it for several years as an upmarket bed and breakfast.
