An error in around 15,000 annual water bills sent out to metro area homeowners means they are around ten times higher than the correct amount, admits water utility SIAPA.
The estimated bills for 2013 are so far out that some households are being asked to fork out 22,000 pesos for annual water consumption that typically averages around 2,000 pesos.
SIAPA (Sistema Intermunicipal de Agua Potable y Alcantariado) officials quickly recognized the mistake and said new bills would be sent out within a week.
