A section of Avenida Lopez Mateos, one of Guadalajara’s busiest roads, is to be closed all week while city officials carry out repair work.
Following flooding during the heavy rain on Saturday night, the tunnel between Manuel Acuña and Avenida Mexico is closed in both directions, causing heavy traffic around the nearby Minerva Glorieta.
Staff from Guadalajara’s Intermunicipal Water Authority (SIAPA) are digging up and relaying the bottom of the tunnel, to remove the mud and dirt which caused structual damage to the busy stretch of road.
