A Banamex branch in Guadalajara’s Colonia San Juan Bosco had the dubious distinction of becoming the 100th bank to be held up in Jalisco this year.
The modus operandi used by the lone assailant was similar to many of the bank robberies that have plagued the state in 2011. The gunman calmly walked into the branch, threatened cashiers with a pistol and demanded that they hand over a stash of banknotes. The bank staff duly obliged. The robber then ran out of the bank to a waiting vehicle and sped away.
The bank branch had close-circuit video surveillance equipment and the identity of the gunman was likely caught on tape, police said.
The 101st bank robbery in Jalisco was reported October 3 at a Bancomer branch at the intersection of Enrique Diaz de Leon and Independencia in Guadalajara.
