A high-speed police chase came to an unexpected end this week when one of the assailants suffered a fatal heart attack as he was being chased by cops.
Following an armed robbery at a store in Colonia Chapalita, the thieves made off in a getaway vehicle down Avenida Niños Heroes. However, they were soon pursued by a police patrol and crashed at the intersection of Francia and Federalismo.
One of the robbers, described as between 35 and 40, jumped out of the car and attempted an escape. Followed by police he managed to run only a few a few blocks before collapsing. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene as a result of cardiac arrest.
