With their days seemingly numbered by the advent of digital media, any major milestones reached by print publications seem increasingly worthy of celebration.
Having run for more than 20 years, the 100th edition of bilingual arts magazine, “Artes de Mexico,” is now on sale.
Since publishing its first issue in September 1988, the near-book-length magazine has featured the work of over 600 authors and gradually built up a vivid encyclopedia of Mexico’s cultural diversity. Exploring the national identity predominantly through photo journalism, “Artes de Mexico” also includes articles in both English and Spanish.
The centennial edition, entitled “Los Otros Rostros de Mexico” (The Other Faces of Mexico), is a special tribute to Ruth D. Lechuga, an Austrian-Mexican who formed one of the largest collections of folk art in the country.
