Want to generate a bit of holiday cheer for impoverished kids? Make a contribution to one of the two separate charity gift programs coming up this month.
Chapala’s San Francisco parish church and associated Salesian lay missioners will hold the sixth annual Jugueton marathon for Saturday, December 15 and Sunday, December 16 at the town plaza. Organizers hope to break last year’s record collection of 2,500 new and gently used playthings during the event’s straight run from 7 p.m. on Saturday to 10:30 p.m. on Sunday. Live entertainment should draw in the crowds.
In a similar vein, the first-time Jugueton Ajijic campaign will gather toys and clothing to be handed out at a children’s festival set for Saturday, December 15, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Ajijic Malecon. Donations may be dropped off by December 14 at the Lake Chapala Society, Centro Cultural Ajijic, American Legion Post Seven in Chapala or B in Touch Spa, Calle San Jose at Ramon Corona in San Antonio.
