San Juan Cosala will stage a special Day of the Dead ceremony on Friday, November 2.
The event will be offered in memory of Teo Mixtli Xicualli, the “Mermaid Goddess” of Lake Chapala.
The ceremony will begin on the malecon of the lakeshore village at 1 p.m. and feature pre-Hispanic dancing, a traditional ritual ceremony and offerings in the form of tiny pre-Hispanic pots containing messages from the people of San Juan Cosala and their wishes for future generations.
