Canadians and Americans at Lakeside had lots of choices for celebrating their respective countries’ national days over the past week.
The Canadian Club hosted their party a little early, on June 29, at La Nueva Posada. The Royal Canadian Legion held their first-ever official ‘do’ at the home of Susannah Kelley in Chapala.
The tandem “CAN/AM Day” was held at the Lake Chapala Society on July 2, with a record-breaking crowd of 600 and a whopping 50 volunteers raising money for the LCS Education Fund. American Legion Post 7 served the requisite picnic food and a big crowd danced away the afternoon, as did those enjoying giant hot dogs at the Shrine Locomotive Club picnic at the old Chapala train station. One local restaurateur took his party outside to the Ajijic Malecon, where a happy group celebrated just as they would have “back home.”
