While waiting in the parking lot of a popular local supermarket, I became aware (again) of the carelessness of some local drivers.
Six drivers (all in cars with foreign plates) backed out of their spaces within about two minutes of each other. As far as I could tell, not one bothered to look behind them before throwing the vehicle into reverse and stomping on the gas pedal. It’s only because they were all favored by the Creator that no one was actually maimed. Fortunately, they all left the parking lot with their cars still intact. The mirror over the front windshield is for looking into before you back up. (It doesn’t hurt to look around you, either.) And speaking of backing up – take it easy. “Spinning out” backwards from a standing position in a crowded parking lot is just not a good idea. Be careful! We need you and the person you might hit around here a while longer.
