For years, I tried to convince the heads at the local television station in Missoula, Montana that May 5 was NOT Mexican Independence Day.
Every year on May 5 (and 6th) I called the station to explain it to them. I was consistently met with “Hey … they’re selling green Corona and Dos Equis … it has to be Independence Day.” (Don’t know why they didn’t equate that with St. Patrick’s Day.) Odd that so-called reporters actually refused to even “Google” to find the truth.
The last time I tried to change their minds, I was told that no one knew the difference and as long as the margaritas held out, “Who cares?”
Who cares? Just ask 100 million Mexicans! Viva Mexico!
