Our rainy season seemed to be off to a good start but things seem to be lagging a little this week. There are, however, surefire ways to bring it on, and I’m not talking about seeding the clouds.

First, have your hair done for a special afternoon outdoor occasion, wear a white gauze dress or shirt and your favorite sandals, too. It’ll suddenly pour from what looked like a clear blue sky before you left home. The hairspray will mix with the water (never a good thing), the gauze will go transparent and you’ll slide around in the sandals until the straps break. Go on a hike across a dry arroyo (again in sandals, if possible) and prepare for a deluge to wade through on your way home. Best of all, to really get the rain going, get your car washed. You and other drivers will splash through puddles and enough mud to conceal your car’s actual color in a matter of minutes. It’s just how it is.
