Painting Guild to open show

The Lake Chapala Painting Guild will open an exhibition of their collective works, “Impressions of Mexico,” on Saturday, April 21, with a reception from 6-8 p.m. at Centro Cultural Gonzalez Gallo (old train station) in Chapala.

The show will feature the art of 12 local painters: Maryann Linhart, Lois Schroff, Geraldine Classen, Libby Shipman, Varn, Bev Kephart, Winnie Hunt, Martha Bryce, Joan Lowndes, Anita Lee, Julie Mignard and Sunny Sorensen.

The Guild is new on the Lakeside scene, with many of the talented painters having met as members of the Ajijic Society of the Arts (ASA). Two of the organizers, Schroff and Classen, have each been honored with “Best of Show” awards in the annual ASA “Judged Show” – Classen in 2011 and Schroff in 2012. All are experienced and highly skilled at their art, whether the medium is watercolor, oil, pastel, pencil or acrylic. It’ll be a show to remember in a venue well-suited to hosting exhibitions. Refreshments will be served.
Those who miss the opening will have the opportunity to view the exhibition until May 30. The Cultural Center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is closed on Mondays.
