Patrons attending the opening concerts of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra autumn season next month will get the opportunity to appreciate the skills of one of the United States’ most prominent conductors.

Renowned composer and musician Jose Pablo Moncayo Garcia has become the latest person to earn a place in the Rotunda of Illustrious Jalisco Citizens.  Born in Guadalajara in 1912, Moncayo is best known as the author of the classical piece  “Huapango.” He died in 1958.

The Fiestas de Octubre is approaching and if you’ve been to a state fair in the United States, you’ll know roughly what to expect, although this city’s version has a distinctly Mexican  flavor.

The Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra presents two end-of-summer concerts under the baton of new musical director Alondra de la Parra.
