Hugely talented local pianist Santiago Lomelin, who celebrated his 20th birthday in August, takes to the hallowed stage of Guadalajara’s Teatro Degollado for a solo recital, interpreting works by Haydn, Chopin and Liszt. A pupil of Anatoly Zatin at the Universidad de Colima since the age of 12, Lomelin has won prizes at music competitions in Kiev, Ukraine; San Jose and Belmont, California; Ragusa, Italy and Granada, Spain. He has been an invited soloist with several leading Mexican state orchestras, including those based in Guadalajara, Aguascalientes, Mexico City and San Luis Potisi. He has also performed with the chamber orchestra at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
