Classical recital series to run through November

Since 2009 the Nino Vallin Society has been working to promote chamber music in Guadalajara and showcase established and emerging talent. Under the direction of maestro Claudio Sotelo the society has programmed 14 concerts for 2012, all on Wednesday evenings and all at the Teatro Jaime Torres Bodet (España 2020, by the Niños Heroes monument).

The first recital was held on May 9, when soprano siblings Rosalia and Guadalupe Blanco performed alongside pianist Sergio Hernandez.

Hernandez, who is also the director of the Jalisco State Choir, returns for the second recital on Wednesday, May 30, 8 p.m., when he will be joined by contra tenor Raul Corona.  The next two recitals are planned for June 11 and 27.

A closing gala in November will present all the singers and musicians who have performed throughout the year.

All these concerts are free of charge.
