Jalisco Governor Aristoteles Sandoval broke with protocol Monday during Guadalajara’s annual parade to mark the Mexican Revolution.
As firefighters passed by showing off a “life net” used to catch people jumping to saftey from the upper floors of burning buildings, Sandoval decided to engage in a bit of showboating. Leaping up from his VIP seat, the governor jumped on to the wall separating spectators from the parade and hurled himself – all of ten feet – into the safety net, much to the amusement of the public and firefighters.
The parade traditionally showcases Jalisco’s emergency services, the state’s sportsmen, women and children and floats dedicated to revolutionary heroes. More than 4,000 people took part in the desfile, which included 20 floats and 80 animals.
