State police helicopter comes to aid of local teen injured in savage sex attack

A 14-year-old girl was airlifted to Guadalajara after being raped and suffering severe knife wounds in Ixtlahuacán de Los Membrillos.

In a press release issued Wednesday evening, Ixtlahuacán city hall said municipal police officers had arrested the “presumed aggressor,” who is being processed by the Chapala district attorney’s office.

The vicious attack took place in the Puerta del Sol fraccionamiento of the town. According to investigators and the girl’s testimony, a man dressed in a “police-style” uniform dragged the girl into a field as she made her way along a path to high school at around 7 a.m.

The girl was found unconscious, partially dressed and with knife wounds to her neck and shoulder. She was taken to the Chapala Red Cross and, due to the severity of her injuries, later airlifted by a helicopter from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) to the Hospital Civil Viejo in Guadalajara.

Ixtlahuacán authorities say police detained the alleged perpetrator of the crime in the Huerta Vieja fraccionamiento. He is around 45 years old, the press release noted.

One news outlet suggested that the accused man was known – at least by sight – to the victim.
