Titanic exhibit sailing into Guanajuato

A critically acclaimed European exhibit on the doomed Titanic liner, that sank after hitting an iceberg in the North Atlantic in April 1912, is set to open in the Parque Guanajuato Bicentenario in Silao, Guanajuato on October 25.

Visitors to “Titanic The Exhibition” will be able to walk through recreations of the ship’s passageways, view reproductions of the ship’s rooms and see many of her original artifacts. They will also have the chance learn about the history of this ill-fated liner, and the human stories in the tragedy.

The exhibit has previously been staged in Barcelona, Spain; Kiev, Ukraine and Stockholm and Norrköping in Sweden. This will be the first time the show has traveled to the American continent.

As a prelude, the Parque Bicentenario will host a ten-course dinner and private tour of the exhibit on October 24. The idea is to recreate the final dinner served in the Titanic’s first-class dining room on the night of the sinking.

Attendees will be asked to wear formal attire, waiters will be in period costume and musicians will interpret original music played on that evening.

The ticket price is 950 pesos and includes the meal and a tour of the exhibit.  Tickets can be purchased from Super Boletos at http://web.superboletos.com:8001/SuperBoletos/guanajuato. Attendance is limited to 550 persons.

The Titanic exhibit will be up through December.

The Parque Guanajuato Bicentenario is located on the Carretera de Cuota Silao-Guanajuato, kilometer 3.8 – about eight kilometers from Guanajuato. For more information about this tourist attraction go to www.parqueguanajuatobicentenario.com or call 01 (472) 723-8000.
