Hidden Beach tour guides get certified

The Commission for Naturally Protected Areas (Conamp) has carried out workshops and accredited 173 guides who will be the only ones allowed to take tourists to the Playa del Amor (Hidden Beach) on the Marietta Islands off the Nayarit coast.

The tour guides attended 16 workshops between July and September to learn more about their trade, as well as the specific rules regarding visits to the uninhabited Mariettas, a federal nature reserve.

The Hidden Beach recently reopened to the public after work was carried out to repair damage to the adjacent coral reef. New regulations are now in force governing visits to the beach, which can only be reached by a narrow channel. Tourists may visit the beach for no longer than 30 minutes and are not allowed to snorkel in the vicinity of the reef.
