Popular San Pancho Music Festival turns 15

The annual three-day San Pancho Music Festival returns for its 15th year in the beach town of San Francisco, Nayarit. As always there is no charge to the public. It is entirely supported by the contributions of local and international recording artists, and donations from those in attendance are always appreciated.

The event takes place on Friday, February 28 through Sunday, March 2. Performances begin at 5 p.m. each day at Plaza del Sol, continuing until 11 p.m. The show times will soon be published on the website (see below).

This year the festival welcomes back some favorites from previous years, including Tatewari, Jeff Oster, Banderas Bay Jazz Allstars, Steve O’Connor, Olivia de la Cruz, Dos Bertos and Las Musa.

Over the years the festival has become a valuable cultural event in Riviera Nayarit. It attracts new tourists to the area and has an ever growing following. The event has undoubtedly contributed significantly to the town’s official designation as the cultural center of Nayarit.   The festival has evolved markedly from its original beginnings in the backyard of a local resident in 2001. Its growing success has earned it a reputation for featuring new and exciting performing artists from the Nayarit region, as well as musicians from the United States, Canada and Latin America.

Directions to the venue and a street map of San Pancho can be accessed via the website sanpanchomusicfest.wordpress.com.  The festival also a Facebook page: facebook.com/sanpanchomusicfestival.
