Obituary - October 1, 2016

 Damon Combs

Lakeside resident Damon Combs died September 21 after valiantly battling pancreatic cancer for more than a year.

Born in San Antonio, Texas on November 5, 1949, Combs spent his early years in various countries due to his father being in the U.S. Air Force.

The family eventually settled in California, where he was a successful youth football and baseball player.  He was offered a full football scholarship, but instead studied and graduated from Santa Barbara University.

Combs then joined the U.S. Army and became a helicopter pilot.

He was a leader in the telecom industry and developed three successful companies throughout his career.

Combs and his wife, Patti, moved to Lakeside from Minnesota five years ago.

He was an avid tennis player and the creative inspiration for the Woodstock Celebration at the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) three years ago.

Combs loved living at Lakeside, enjoying the weather, reggae, blues and his many friends.

He is survived by his wife Patti; son Adrian Combs (Dani); grandson Phoenix; stepson Anthony Neuman; mother Margaret Combs; brother Tom Combs and sister Jackie Combs.  He was preceded in death by his father and sister Carol Combs.

There will be a memorial service when Patti returns to their Unity Christ Church in Minneapolis.  Combs was a member of the church for over 30 years.
