Netflix raises fees

Netflix is increasing its monthly charges for Mexican subscribers from the beginning of October.

The basic fee – that will permit viewing on two simultaneous screens or devices – will rise from 99 to 129 pesos a month.  For multiple viewing on four screens, the fee will be 159 pesos.

Many subscribers freely share their Netflix passwords with family and friends. Although there are no laws in Mexico regulating the sharing of passwords, a recent ruling in the United States has raised some eyebrows. In July, judges from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that sharing passwords for streaming services could be considered a federal crime under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.
