Most schools decline shorter calendar year

Only 813 primary and secondary schools in Jalisco out of 11,298 have taken the option of reducing the number of work days in the coming school year.

All were given the opportunity of extending classes by 30 minutes each day and thus reducing the number of school days from 200 to 185.

The 813 schools that accepted the offer will end the school year on June 27, 2017, instead of July 18, 2017.

The new school year begins on Monday, August 22.

There will be seven “puentes” during the 2017 school year. The first is Friday, September 16 – Independence Day.
