VivaAerobus, Southwest plan new flights

Low-cost Mexican airline VivaAerobus will start offering flights on the popular Guadalajara-Dallas route as of March 28, 2015.
The Monterrey-based  carrier will use Airbus A320 aircraft and operate out of DFW’s International Terminal D three times per week.

VivaAerobus currently serves 21 destinations in Mexico with hubs in Monterrey and Cancun, and also serves three U.S. destinations in addition to DFW Airport.

Southwest Airlines plans to launch a service from Orange County, California to Puerto Vallarta on June 7, 2015.

Southwest has also filed applications with the U.S. Department of Transportation requesting approval to serve four destinations in Mexico  from Houston Hobby Airport: Cancun, Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta and San Jose del Cabo/Los Cabos. The new Houston flights will be made possible by the completion of an estimated US$156 million, five-gate international concourse now under construction at Hobby.

Meanwhile, at the beginning of December Aeromexico began a new daily service between Monterrey and New York, extending the airline’s (and codeshare partner Delta’s) connectivity to western Mexican cities such as Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, Bajio-Leon, Queretaro and Aguascalientes.

There is no direct flight between Guadalajara and New York.
