Chapala Mayor Javier Degollado told the Guadalajara Reporter this week that he is seeking a personal audience with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto
to give him a grasp of the estimated 200 million pesos per annum that expatriates pour into the Lake Chapala area economy.
That will be a key argument in requesting greater federal funding to carry out projects and public services aimed at improving the community’s infrastructure, boosting living standards and increasing the area’s magnetism as a vibrant retirement haven.
